Supplemental Design Standards
Following are revisions or additions to the manuals that have been approved by the SUDAS Board of Directors but have not been published:
- Electronic design (Chapter 1, Section 4)
The use of machine control systems on construction equipment is expanding. Electronic plans that lack accuracy and completeness may cause problems during construction. Guidance was added to the Design Manual to alleviate this problem. - Geometrics (Chapter 5, Sections 5A-1 through 5C-2)
A committee was formed to review and revise the geometric standards. Iowa DOT played a key role in these revisions and will be looking at using the same geometric standards. - Traffic signals (Chapter 13)
Through a research project, a committee was formed to review and revise the traffic signal design standards.
