General Supplemental Specifications
Following are revisions or additions to the manuals that have been approved by the SUDAS Board of Directors but have not been published:
- Insurance (Section 1070, 3.05)
Questions were raised concerning the use of Builders Risk Insurance for projects that are not “building construction projects.” The term “building construction projects” is not defined within the specifications. The language was revised to say the insurance will only be required when stated in the special provisions. - Water main valves (Section 5020, 2.01, C, 4)
A request was made to change the requirement that the seat on butterfly valves be “bonded or retained to the body of the valve.” - Double open-throat curb intakes (Figures 6010.509 and 6010.510)
Added a 6 inch dimension in Section A-A between the spacer and the inside front face of the wall. - Paving figures (Sections 7010 and 7020)
Revised as a part of the SUDAS and Iowa DOT inconsistencies project. - Driveway grading details (Figures 7030.103 and 7030.104)
When Section 7030 was rewritten, two figures were removed. The districts and Board decided to put them back into Section 7030. - Curb details for Class A sidewalk (Figure 7030.202)
Added a joint to Detail 1 and included a note to "See Figure 7010.101, Detail C."(Note - this reference has been updated to reflect the revised 7010 figure) - Detectable warnings at railroad crossings (Figure 7030.204)
Revised the distance the detectable warnings are placed from the railroad crossings. Also renamed the figure. - Pavement rehabilitation (Section 7040)
Revised as a part of the SUDAS and Iowa DOT inconsistencies project. - Pavement rehabilitation figures (Section 7040)
Revised as a part of the SUDAS and Iowa DOT inconsistencies project. - Traffic signals (Division 8)
Through a research project, a committee was formed to review and revise the traffic signal specifications. The division has been consolidated into one section.
