Terms and Conditions of Use of the Iowa Statewide Urban Design and Specifications Manuals
Copyright and Permitted Uses
The non-profit Iowa SUDAS Corporation holds the copyright to the Iowa Statewide Urban Design Standards for Public Improvements and the Urban Standard Specifications for Public Improvements (also called the SUDAS manuals). The SUDAS manuals are published and distributed by Iowa State University's Center for Transportation Research and Education (CTRE) under license from Iowa SUDAS Corporation.
The following entities may reproduce, use, and modify portions of the SUDAS manuals for project design and specifications for public works projects in the State of Iowa: The State of Iowa and its various agencies and institutions, Iowa counties, Iowa municipalities, and other Iowa local agencies, licensed design professionals, and contractors.
Persons wishing to use the SUDAS manuals for other purposes or for use outside the State of Iowa may request permission by contacting

The SUDAS manuals are provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to, warranties of noninfringement, performance, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
Assumption of Risk
Users of the SUDAS manuals agree to assume all risks of using the manuals and are responsible for the selection of design standards and specifications to achieve the intended purpose and for the results obtained. Engineering specifications must be tailored to the specific circumstances of each project and nothing provided herein should be used as a substitute for the advice of a professional engineer.
In no event shall the Iowa SUDAS Corporation or Iowa State University be liable for any damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages including lost profits, business interruption, or other loss) arising out of use of these design standards or specifications even if the Iowa SUDAS Corporation and/or Iowa State University has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
